This log is from Shadowkatt and took place before I was involved in the quest for Leya's Shrine, so I'm not sure what all was going on during that time, nor the actual date of the incident. I'd guess probably sometime in February or March 1997. (It's possible this closure of the shrine was the one mentioned in the log with Miriweather, which would put this in March.)

Evidently the questers had been summoned by Myste's pendant. They had been using Kai's shrine as a place to seek information and guidance because of Kai being Leya's father. Obviously though, some other entity showed up instead. Following that, it appears that it was Kai, because the voice called it his shrine.

I'll note here though that Kai is not normally portrayed as an angry, vengeful sort. This is can serve as an example of how tricky it is for GM's to be portraying the Arkati and how lack of consistency can cause issues to arise, but it's something that sort of comes with the territory.

Unfortunately the log doesn't include what led up to them gathering and heading to the shrine or what first happened there. It does show just how unpredictable and interesting Elanthian entities can be though. What fun!

 

"Why for do you summon me forth my sweet ones?"

You gaze heavenward.

You reach out and touch a dark Leya sash.

Myste just touched a shining dagger pendant suspended on a crystal chain.

Kiora just touched a silvery Leya medallion.

"You are distant from me now...I feel the warm pulse of your souls...calling to me."

Myste asks, "is there a special way to enter your shrine, once we do find it?"

"My shrine lies beneath your feet...come join me deep in the bowels of the earth..."

"Sweet cold darkness to shroud the warm taste of your souls..."

Rali glances at Myste.

whisper myste this doesnt seem right.
Ok.

Rali stands up.

Kiora says, "heh"

Myste nods to you.

Myste asks, "to whom are we speaking?"

Myste frowns.

Kiora says, "ye mean what do we speak"

Rali says, "tis not Leya"

Kiora frowns.

"To whom your souls calls out to, warm soul..."

Myste recites:

"Gracious Leya and Powerful Kai
please protect us from dark poweras that would try to disrupt your servants"

Kiora says, "My soul calls to Leya.."

Kiora gazes in wonder at her surroundings.

(Rali stifles a growl and stares into the shadows)

Myste says, "Our souls call to Leya"

Heavy spark to back.
Bet that hurts.
She is stunned!

Snow white vultite walls tower high overhead in this eight-sided room, their enormous size dwarfing only slightly the magnificent granite statue that stands in the center of the structure. Softly colored light filters in from huge stained glass windows set into each wall, creating a kaleidoscope of color dancing across the rich grey slate floors. You also see the Myste disk.
Also in the room: Lady Myste who is kneeling, Lady Kiora who is kneeling, Lady Rali, Kylandeshan who is lying down, Jarmus who is seated

Rali just tried to pull Myste towards her!

Myste mumbles something that you don't quite catch.

You hear someone cackle.

Myste says, "never"

You get a sharp whiff of burning hair.

The feeling fades as quickly as it came.

You remove a royal blue flask from inside your green leather cloak.

You force Myste's mouth open, and pour in a small amount from your blue flask.

[Courtyard]
A well maintained and healthy garden occupies the entirety of the courtyard. The air here is cool and crisp, though the sun's strong rays beat back any feelings of cold. In the center of the garden is a natural spring bubbling up several inches above the surface of the encircling pool of crystal clear water. A large stone and iron gate blocks the entrance to the monastery flanked by a set of statues. You also see a fancy violet gown and a guard, a polished marble bench, a large fil tree and a statue of a woman carrying a staff of crystal in her left hand and a set of crystalline keys in her right, facing the other of a young man kneeling, bedecked in battle-worn black chain armor.

Large rectangular talismans carved from pale grey granite ring the edges of the summit, like sentries guarding the precious grounds of this jewel among the heavens. Sunlight pierces through the clouds overhead, warming your aching bones, and carrying with it a faint promise of brighter days ahead. Set in the exact center of the circle, a tall octagonal building with an arch of pure granite beckons.

You say, "I wish to know what happened here as much as you do."

You shake your head.

Rali nods.

Rali says, "aye...we were called here ...by Leyas pendant"

You say, "If I am not worthy to enter your temple or to follow Leya, I will drop the shield right here."

You say, "As you deem it."

Lady Myste's group just arrived.

I think there must have been more that happened between the above part and the next, because as you can see there's a much larger crowd gathered. But it was edited out before it was sent to me.
