Boiledsnake

This was sent to me a long time ago by a friend who played a character present at this Commune. She no longer plays the game, but I am sure she would like to have this log made available, as preserving history was very important to her both as a player and her characters.

Unfortunately I do not have a date for when this took place. My best guess is somewhere around August 1998, based on another log I have dated that month in which Shar was being discussed. (That was the last Shar has been heard from as far as I know, the storyline was never completed.)

While most people have not had access to logs, the story of Bloodsnake being incinerated by Eorgina became widespread lore.

Some black incense burns softly as a stream of sulphur-scented smoke rises from its smoldering ashes.

A slender black candle burns with a warm golden light.

Zolantria says, "we ask this in deepest humility."

(Sadryne hums liquid tones, rising and falling on the scale.)

Soft wisps of scented smoke waft from the sulphur incense.

The slender black candle flickers softly, casting a warm light throughout the area.

You trace the lines of your symbol of Eorgina.

The incense emits some black smoke which disperses, leaving a faint scent of sulphur.

Zolantria says, "your power is great and supreme. we only ask for guidance"

Alisar kneels down.

You murmur some prayers under your breath.

Zolantria says, "your priestesses honor you and want only to do your will"

Sadryne gazes up into the heavens.

Alisar continues to beseech the gods for mercy and guidance.

Zolantria says, "Lumnis shows herself on this plane, why does Eorgina not? We fear for her with this sign."

Bloodsnake blinks.

Zolantria says, "The evil queen Shar is plotting against you, what can we do to help."

A small draft catches the flame of a slender black candle and it flickers brightly.

Zolantria says, "please we beseech thee... hear our prayers."

Bloodsnake continues to beseech the gods for mercy and guidance.

Bloodsnake sighs.

(Knalla traces what appear to be flames on the floor near her)

(Sadryne trills slightly with her voice.)

Bloodsnake glances at a slender black candle.

Zolantria asks, "Mistress Eorgina...have you forgotten your faithful servants?"

(Sadryne increases her humming, sliding up and down the scales quickly.)

Zolantria says, "we desperately need your guidance in these dark times, please hear us"

Zolantria says, "we ask you for a sign of how to increase the faith here in the lands."

(Sadryne clasps her hands tightly around her statue, clenching her eyes shut and praying furiously.)

Sadryne removes an obsidian Eorgina symbol from her neck.

A trickle of sulphur-scented smoke rises from some black incense.

The slender black candle burns warmly, lending a soft light to the room.

Bloodsnake just touched a moon-shaped Eorgina pin.

Bloodsnake continues to beseech the gods for mercy and guidance.

(Sadryne holds her symbol over the incense, watching the smoke curl up and around it.)

Sadryne hangs an obsidian Eorgina symbol around her neck.

Zolantria says, "Please hear us Mistress"

Bloodsnake exclaims, "Hear us!"

(Knalla grips her hands tighter with the group drawing strength and renewed faith from all)

Zolantria asks, "Eorgina do we displease you in any way, is this silance a result of our flaws as mortals?"

(Sadryne hums an opening bar.)

The faint scent of sulphur fills the air.

The candle pulsates once with a black glow, the flame growing lightly, then returns to its usual hue.

Zolantria says, "Mistress Eorgina we are deeply sorry if we offended thee."

Sadryne says, "Our lives Lady, take our lives if we displease you..."

Bloodsnake says, "I pledge my soul to you....I give it freely"

Zolantria says, "strike us all down if it is your will, we only wish to serve you."

Sadryne tightens her grip on her statue of Eorgina.

The candle flame jumps erratically.

Soft wisps of scented smoke waft from the sulphur incense.

(Sadryne turns her face upwards.)

(Sadryne raises her statue of Eorgina above her head.)

Sadryne exclaims, "You rule us, you control us, let our words ring in your ears!"

(Bloodsnake stares at the flame)

Sadryne exclaims, "See how your followers adore you!"

The flame begins to clarify, becoming the most perfect flame you have ever seen, if blood red.

Bloodsnake says, "Let us be your vessels! "

(Bloodsnake stares at the flame, entranced)

Sadryne recites:

Shimmering waves of heat ripple from the candle.

Bloodsnake says, "hear us our Queen! "

You murmur some prayers under your breath.

Bloodsnake says, "she hears us"

The flame's red color deepens.

Bloodsnake exclaims, "behold her power!"

The candle begins hissing rhythmically, in the pattern of soft speech.

Sadryne exclaims, "Let us bask in your presence, the way we bask in the glow that extends from you every day!"

(Knalla nods to Bloodsnake.. her eyes never leaving the flame)

Bloodsnake says, "shhh the candle speaks"

The candle continues hissing, the words seeming frustratingly familiar.

(Bloodsnake strains to listen)

Bloodsnake says, "yes Mistress, tell us your will"

(Sadryne purses her lips, eyes closed in rapture.)

The hissing grows louder, the patterns becoming more concise.

Bloodsnake stares at a slender black candle.

The faint scent of sulphur fills the air.

Once again, the candle flares to life.

You murmur some prayers under your breath.

Bloodsnake says, "tell us..we are your servants"

The patterns grow louder, more word-like, and the flame stays red as new blood on snow.

"Do you...."

Bloodsnake gasps.

Zolantria bows.

Bloodsnake bows.

You bow.

Zared bows.

Sadryne traces the lines of her symbol of Eorgina.

Linin bows.

"Do you really...."

Alisar bows.

Linin says, "yes"

"Do you really have...."

You gasp.

Sadryne exclaims, "Goddess no!"

Zared exclaims, "No!"

"Do you believe that a whelp like Shar could overthrow my divinity?"

Bloodsnake says, "my deepest apologies mistress, we were only concerned"

"CONCERNED?"

Bloodsnake ducks her head.

An intense wave of heat blasts the room.

Bloodsnake says, "please dont be angry"

"I am Queen of the Gods! I am the ruler of the divine!"

Bloodsnake says, "we also need to know what your will is for us"

"And you, in your infinate mortal wisdom, believe that I am WEAK?"

Bloodsnake says, "we only wish to serve you"

Bloodsnake exclaims, "no!"

Bloodsnake exclaims, "never!"

"Did you not say so, Serpent-tongue?"

Bloodsnake's face turns slightly pale.

Bloodsnake fidgets.

Sadryne says, "We see only that your enemies are mobilizing, we want only to defend your rights to rule this world. "

Bloodsnake nods to Sadryne.

Sadryne says, "We know you don't need us to. You don't need us at all."

"Enemies? Do you honestly believe that there is ANYONE that could defeat ME?"

Sadryne says, "What we do, in our mortal failing way, we do out of worship for you."

Bloodsnake says, "we wish to support you in your slaying of Lumnis and Koar"

"Your lack of faith is pathetically mortal."

Sadryne says, "That's all we are Mistress, we claim to be no more than that."

Bloodsnake says, "we do not wish to anger you, only to serve"

Bloodsnake bows.

"And so, Wormwood, you felt you should come and see if I were okay, as a mother would check a child squalling in the night?"

Bloodsnake says, "nay nay"

Sadryne says, "Please, allow us the chance to reprove ourselves to you. We will work to earn your forgiveness."

Bloodsnake says, "that is not the way of it"

Bloodsnake says, "we worship you so deeply that your lack of guidance was troubling to us"

"And what is the way of it, Belly-crawler?"

Bloodsnake says, "we cannot do your will if we do not know what it is"

"So now you wish me to molly-coddle you."

Bloodsnake says, "nay Mistress"

Sadryne says, "And we don't believe ourselves capable of discerning it without your most gracious aid..."

Bloodsnake says, "i just ask for guidance and your will for us "

Bloodsnake says, "i have been a faithful priestess of yours for many years"

"Then, Wormwood, perhaps you will have to take a chance when I do not leave a detailed list of instructions with you."

Bloodsnake bows.

Bloodsnake says, "i shall do as you say Mistress"

Bloodsnake says, "forgive us for this intrusion"

Sadryne says, "Yes Lady, I will be more humble and rely more on myself in the future."

"If you serve well, you will be rewarded. If you fail me, you will be...unrewarded."

"Did I say I was through with you, Scalechild?"

Bloodsnake's face turns slightly pale.

Bloodsnake says, "i only live to serve you, do as you will"

Bloodsnake bows.

"You only live because you amuse me."

Bloodsnake says, "as you wish Mistress"

"That's the way of it, isn't it?"

Bloodsnake says, "if it is your will, so be it"

"This pathetic display is...disheartening."

Bloodsnake says, "oh my we didn't wish to anger you"

"How long has it been since last I manifested?"

Bloodsnake says, "two years Mistress"

Sadryne says, "Years upon years"

"And in this short time, your faith has waned?"

Bloodsnake says, "nay my faith has not waned, we of the Circle were unsure of your will after all that time"

Sadryne says, "Mortal lives are short Lady, we have such short spans, both in years and in attention..."

"Do not temporize with me, Ground-dweller."

Bloodsnake says, "please Mistress do not be angry."

"I will be angry if I wish to be."

Bloodsnake bows.

Sadryne says, "It is your divine right."

"Did it not occur to you that I might be doing something important?"

Sadryne says, "We were prepared to be ignored, or struck down if you were busy."

Sadryne blushes a nice shade of off-pink.

Bloodsnake says, "can you forgive your priestess? I humbly beg of you."

"You seemed to think me incapable of self defense."

Bloodsnake says, "nay"

"Liar."

"You would lie to your Queen?"

Bloodsnake says, "you are the all powerful Queen of the Dark Gods"

Bloodsnake says, "i cannot lie to thee Mistress"

Sadryne says, "Never Lady, oh Never."

Sadryne continues to beseech the gods for mercy and guidance.

"Then why did you believe I had been 'weakened' or 'defeated by Shar'?"

Sadryne says, "Mortal failing, mortal flaw and paranoia."

Bloodsnake says, "i have seen Shar's power, it is great....I assumed the worst and I apologize humbly for that"

"I cannot turn my back before you are all screaming that the apocalypse is nigh."

Bloodsnake says, "please forgive"

Bloodsnake bows.

"You will pay the price for your lack of vision, Coldblood."

Bloodsnake says, "as you wish Mistress"

A cloud of billowing red smoke begins to form around Bloodsnake, engulfing her in its crimson embrace!

The flames surrounding Bloodsnake flare up and sear her skin!
