Nilandia on Lumnis
Nilandia says, "Lumnis is goddess of wisdom and learning, as given in the introductory speech."
Nilandia says, "Lumnis' command of knowledge is the subject of many legends, able even to amaze her husband Koar. Scholars of all races look to Her for guidance while others may pray to Her for the wisdom in dealing with a particular problem."
Nilandia says, "Lumnis is known to give counsel to any who seek it, even those of the Lornon pantheon, and as such is often seen as an Arkati to govern balance in all things. I personally do not hold to the belief in balance, so I unfortunately am not qualified to detail what such a doctrine entails."
Nilandia says, "From what I have learned from those who believe in balance, the doctrine is much like that of Neutrality: to walk the grey path between Liabo and Lornon, giving aid to each as necessary."
Nilandia says, "The belief that I hold is that Lumnis seeks to help all mortal races, abhoring war and violence as shown in the fresco here, rather cultivating wisdom and learning for the benefit of all who seek."
Nilandia reaches out and touches a wall fresco.

The fresco is emblazoned in stark hues and vivid colors, as two armies clash
far beneath a lonely bank of clouds. There, draped with the loneliness of
ages, stands a solitary figure. Her expression deepens with sorrow as she
watches the holocaust taking place below her.
Nilandia says, "Lumnis, however, is not an Arkati to point out something directly. She instead will guide the person who seeks knowledge to discover the answer for themselves."
Nilandia says, "She may not tell you, for example, where to find something, but She may subtly guide you to people who may know or point out ideas that may spur you in the right direction."
Nilandia says, "As such, Lumnis is a spark to the fire of knowledge."
Nilandia says, "As the Arkati of wisdom, Lumnis cautions all who call upon Her to be careful of the knowledge they seek. Not all knowledge that exists is purely for the benefit of others, but rather possesses the ability to cause a great amount of destruction."
Nilandia says, "In such cases, Lumnis scorns seeking knowledge for personal gain or power, placing her in conflict with Fash'lo'nae and his followers, who sometimes tend to seek knowledge for its own sake. Sometimes, though. Not always."
Nilandia says, "Please, follow me that I may continue."
[Lumnis' Temple, Pool of Thought]
Parallel rows of benches face a large pool edged in white stone. The pool's
design is graceful and pleasing to the eye. Marble steps surround it, offering
different views of its eloquent nuances. On the armrest of each bench is
carved a sphere, the deft carvings accented in gold leaf. Overhead, on the
high, arched ceiling, the image of an ebon drake spreads its wings. At each
corner of the chamber rests a globe astride a carved marble column. You
also see a gilded spiral staircase.

Nilandia says, "Lumnis is worshipped in many ways. Often, those who seek Her guidance will leave a token or an offering at Her altar or carry Her symbol with her. Many times, those who wish to honor Her will offer parrot feathers or images of the birds, as it was the parrot that witnessed Her birth. Some of these offerings can be quite intricate, especially from House Illistim, who claims Her as its Patron. Lumnis' symbol also often adorns houses of learning, who often invoke Her name upon their founding."
Nilandia says, "Typically, however, most people can not afford such elaborate ritual to honor Lumnis. In such circumstances, She is best worshipped by simple prayer and meditation. Lumnis will often whisper to a worshipper in quiet moments, when they can best heed Her words. All that is required is a desire for Lumnis' help and a willingness to follow the path laid before them."
Nilandia says, "Many times, when I need some time to think, I come here. It is an excellent place to collect your thoughts."
Nilandia says, "While Lumnis will speak to those who seek Her, many times she is also silent. Her silence is not to be construed as a prayer gone ignored. Rather, She will not answer a prayer where she has no need to."
Nilandia says, "If the petitioner has all the pieces they need, Lumnis may not answer, except sometimes to tell the person to trust that which they already have."
Nilandia says, "In all things, Lumnis will guide, rather than command."
