Subject My short vacation [long log] (5048)
Ok .. this happened a few weeks ago, but I'm just now getting around to formatting the log for the boards. Lissa, Dunryc and I ran across a Gypsy woman in the Blighted Forest in EN. She was telling fortunes by examining something of value to you. Suffice it to say .. it's not a good idea to joke with a gypsy.
Keep in mind when reading this little 'vacation' log, I'm only 84! (Editor's note: it's important to remember that when this took place the Rift was mostly for characters over level 100.)

An old gypsy woman says, "Now Prestius."
You nod to the old gypsy woman.
> Lissa says, "I do not think that is a good idea."

You rub your chin thoughtfully.

Prestius smiles and pulls a P from his longcoat, flips it in the air, and
grins as it drops perfectly in gyspy's cloak.
You ask, "How's that?"
You peer quizzically at an old gypsy woman.
An old gypsy woman points at you.
Your skin turns green, rubbery and spotted with warts. Your fingers and toes grow long, splayed and webbed. Squatting on your hind legs you stare out at the world with new eyes . . . big, bulging frog eyes.
> Lissa appears to be trying hard not to grin.
>groan
You make a *RIBBIT* noise.
>"Ok ok
You croak.
You grin.
> An old gypsy woman shakes its head.
>"Hmm
You croak.
> Lissa glances at you.
(Prestius whips his tongue out)
You grin.
You wink.

[Blighted Forest, Treetop]
The girth of the limbs underfoot is generous, providing a framework for
passageways high above the forest floor. They offer a safe promenade from
tree to tree. Night birds serenade the darkness from the surrounding shadowy
foliage. A break in the canopy offers a view of a stream meandering across
the forest floor below. You also see a tiny chocolate summoner, the Prestius
disk and an old gypsy woman.

[The Rift]
A large, decrepit building stands on the top of a small hillock here. Vines
cover most of the building, avoiding only the dark stains running from the
windows and roof. The stains are a dark red or brown, giving the appearance
the building has been sweating blood. A weathered metal sign hangs just
above the entryway, creaking in the non-existant breeze. You also see a
mithril fang.
Obvious exits: south, southeast.

[The Rift]
A large, decrepit building stands on the top of a small hillock here. Vines
cover most of the building, avoiding only the dark stains running from the
windows and roof. The stains are a dark red or brown, giving the appearance

[The Rift] Headstones of grey marble seem to grow from the ground, placed
in neat rows. A pall of silence hangs over the graveyard, and not even a
breath of wind disturbs the serenity. Set slightly apart from the rest of
the graves is a large black tomb. Carved upon the face of the stone, in
the place reserved for the identity of the departed, is the name "Elanthia."

[The Rift]
A small, faded festival tent has been set up in a patch of grass here. The
tent covers several long tables with cakes and pastries arranged on them.
Behind and to the sides of the tent, couples dance together, completely
oblivious to your presence. The crowd of revelers moves stiffly, like puppets
under the hand of a new master. Slowly they all turn and look at you, lifeless
eyes pleading for release from this grim masquerade, then return to their
partners in resignation as the dance continues. You also see a seraceris.
Obvious paths: north, south, southeast.
You drop to your knees in utter despair! Overcome by the foul stench of pure evil emanating from the seraceris, your arms fall slack at your sides and feel your limbs slipping away as an utter and complete fear seizes a suffocating control of your mind and body!
A seraceris claws at you!

[The Rift]

[The Rift]

[The Rift]
The horizon is scrutinized by cautious sentries as you arrive at the wide
gateway guarding the land route to a wildland outpost. The frantic preparations
of the citizens to the south are a far cry from the deceptive calm of the
mists around you. Two charred and beaten towers survey the countryside and
hold silent vigil over the town, flanking the road to the east and west.
You also see a plain silver mirror.
Obvious exits: north, south, southeast.

{I make a WHAT?!?! -- mutter }
A seraceris glides in!

[The Rift]
A huge cliff looms before you, stretching far into the sky above. About
halfway up the face an immense red-skinned man rides the air currents, flapping
his leathery wings to hold his position. On the wall next to him are crude
columns made of bodies impaled to the wall, each column topped off with
a different type of weapon resting on rough hooks.
Obvious exits: north, southeast.
You feel a dark force tearing at your body!
... 10 points of damage!
Light blow to your back.
The air crackles with ethereal energy!
An ethereal light washes over you as you sense mana collecting
around and in you!
Roundtime: 3 sec.
You feel the magic alien to you slipping away...
You return to your dark elven form.
You come back into focus.
You notice the faint image of yourself disappear.
The dim aura fades from around you.
You feel a bit less agile.
The opalescent aura fades from around you.
You no longer feel the dark presence.
{YAY again! Thank you Rift for getting rid of my alien "frog form" }

[The Rift]
Even for a giant, the body laying on the ground before you is huge. It lies
face down, a pool of blood widening slowly around it. The giant's outstretched
arms clutch a battle axe in one hand and a thin veil iron circlet in the
other, as if to keep hold of them even in death. Fortunately, the pack of
wild dogs ripping at the body doesn't seem to care about them, only about
their dinner. You also see some silver coins.
Obvious exits: northeast, northwest, southeast.

You shudder as your life-force is torn and reshaped!

[The Rift]
A beached ship lies in the middle of the field here, no clues or explanation
as to how it arrived. The once shiny maoral wood has dulled now with age,
and the ship's ribs and masts have split and fallen. The only passengers
of the vessel are the rats, which number in the thousands. It's almost as
if the boat itself writhes with their movements. High above, on the one
remaining mast, flies a flag bearing a rat skull and crossbones. You also
see a Vvrael witch.
Obvious paths: east, west, northwest.
{A what!?! Ok .. RUN AWAY!!}

[The Rift]
A marble wall stretches for some distance to either side of you. In the
center of the wall hangs a golden scale, with a small shelf on either side
of it. On each of the shelves lies a shiny razor and a white towel. The
bowls of the scales are spotless, although they have a slight coppery odor.
Obvious exits: east, west.
The ground shakes violently as a caedera explodes from the
ground!
You lose your footing and fall to the ground!

[The Rift]
A wide stretch of forest opens before you, the huge border of trees giving
the impression of stoic guards protecting their land and secrets. Packs
of ghostly dogs run toward you at the will of a huge, antlered man commanding
them at the forest border. His bony finger points to you, and the dark gleam
in his eye tells you he will not allow passage further into the woods.
Obvious exits: east, west.
(More running away.)

[The Rift]
A long line of robed monks walks solemnly, fading off into the distance.
They seem to be traveling toward the largest mountain of a set which runs
across the distant horizon. Two bursts of flame shoot up from an opening
in the mountain occasionally, illuminating a skull-shaped castle and a line
of supplicants several miles long moving towards it. You also see a plain
silver mirror.
Obvious exits: northwest, southwest.

You walk through a plain silver mirror.
[Birthing Sands, Cavern of Ages]
This part of the cavern seems intimate after the expansiveness just around
a bend of the red stone. Recesses all along the east wall give the rock
a filigreed appearance which belies the vast size of each enclosure. The
fine sand is a constant carpet, however, the light it expends is much dimmer
here, fading to a soft twilight within the eastern niches. To the south,
the walls swirl to create an oval passageway into another cavern where more
of the recesses can be glimpsed. You also see a narrow fissure and a jagged
stone ledge with some stuff on it.
Also in the room: Lord Dunryc who is seated, Siafu who is seated, High Lord

Dunryc hugs you.
You say, "I lived!!"
> Dunryc says, "Ya did nay die"
> Siafu chuckles.
You dance around the room to music only you can hear.
> Siafu says, "not bad"
> Siafu nods to you.
You say, "It was nip and tuck I'll tell ya"
Dunryc says, "I was doin OK till one jumped out the ground at me"
You say, "I ran like a frog in heat"
> Siafu says, "fear be ya biggest worry i would think"
> Siafu chuckles.
You say, "Got that .. yeah"
You say, "I'm a wreck .."
Dunryc asks, "how come yer not a frog anymore?"
Jael just arrived.
You say, "I got dispelled"
You snicker.
Siafu cackles!
You say, "oof"
> Siafu says, "an amusing twist for having been cast here"
You say, "That was one mean Gypsy"
> Dunryc laughs!
> Jael blinks.
> Jael asks, "Who let you up here?"
> Jael cocks his head at you.
You say, "She turned me into a toad and dropped me on Plane 2"
> Dunryc nods to you.
> Dranix just arrived.
> Dunryc says, "i have finally heard the death cry in my head"
> Jael says, "Ah."
You grin.
Dranix bites Dunryc!
Dranix says, "so.. ya died"
Mersteel starts chuckling at you!
You snicker.
Dunryc says, "Aye, Im not 90 yet"
You say, "Mean ol bat"
You say, "All I did was give her a P"
Heehee. Eventually Lissa worked out a deal with the Gypsy where Dhisear traded his life to the Gypsy to bring both Dunryc (who also got "Frog-Rifted" by the Gypsy) back to the Ogres in EN. God dang ... what a adreneline pumping blast that was!
