Lo! Arctic Moses did come down from the Top Of The World bearing two stone tablets.
Upon one were inscribed five alchemic recipes with which to use to better one's self, will, and character.
Upon the second were inscribed five imperatives dictating the true and proper practice of worshi- alchemy!
Thou shalt not make wrongful use out of the name of Alchemy!
Thou shalt not murder for alchemic recipes!
Thou shalt not steal alchemic recipes!
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's recipes!
Thou shalt not bear false witness to the existence of alchemical recipes!

In fact, .5x isn't even enough for RR.
It takes 15 ranks to climb the path up to hisskra.
Hisskra are what, 27, 28?
Usually by the time I can climb up there, I don't care to.
I, the player, am TERRIFIED of eagles, griffins, and anything else that can pick me up, so I try to avoid them. And roa'ters. They terrify me so much that none of my girls can hunt them. Alisaire also terrifies me in such a way that I could never even stay in the same room she was in. But she's off-topic, I've never had to climb Alisaire.

I wonder if Alisaire would care to share how many ranks it would take. I think I would find that thread decidedly more interesting.

Monk Folder - spell ideas A Few Ideas · on 9/6/2007 5:18:16 AM
Feign Death - If the monk is stunned or otherwise immobilized in combat, she may slow her respiration and heartbeat to perfectly feign death, such that her enemies immediately cease all attempts to attack the monk, perhaps wandering off or picking a new target. In addition, any bleeding, poison, or disease effects the monk may have been suffering from will cease for the duration of the feigned death. Note, the monk is completely unable to take any action while in this state. She may, however, end the effect at will.
More to come.

Interesting idea, but the first thing that popped into my head were those critters that mutilate your body when dead.
Big ugly orc swings at your head
You are stunned
>Feign Death
You slump to the floor pretending to be dead
A big ugly orc lets out a victory roar.
You think to your self, "Great i fooled the stupid orc...hey wait why is he walking over to me...."
A big ugly orc places one foot on your chest and grasps your head by either ear and pulls.
You think to yourself, "Crap."
It appears you have died my friend....

Is that fair of you to disparage another's valid complaint? It makes me sooooo angry when people flippantly disregard well-reasoned commentary simply because they have never encountered the same problem. We all come to the table with different perceptions and viewpoints. Does that make mine any less valid? I suffer from clincally diagnosed logophobia. This affliction has subjected me to feelings of low self-esteem, shame and pain throughout my life. Part of the process of treatment involves being repeatedly exposed to the root of the fear (i.e. text). As such, Gemstone has been therapeutic, but to this day, I still experience bouts of shortness of breath, rapid breathing, irregular heartbeat, sweating, nausea, and overall feelings of dread (especially when in the presence of halfling/gnome-speak or when dealing with NPC merchants, particularly those using morphing lists). To belittle my condition is just cruel. I have just as much right to enjoy this game as any other player. If asking for the text to be replaced with Battlezone-era vector graphics, pineapple power-ups and live-video feed of french mimes enacting the horrible evisceration death of a kobold is wrong, then I don't want to be right.
I pay good money for this game.

Pristine nymph hairs? What about regular ones? Are there regular ones? I haven't hunted sea nymphs since '97 when my level 3 cleric thought they were the best thing ever because he found 11,000 raw coin in a sea nymph box once.
Guess they're seeing a resurgence in popularity. I like imagining the billions of little alts running back and forth on that tiny coast cliff path like ants, with the horrible spawn rate, getting in fights over chases and inevitably bringing in their pure "Big Brothers" to beat each other up over a disputed pristine hair drop.

You're hunting fire guardians for essence of fire, and bring your pet cat.
You open the boxes as you go and throw them in the lava
You do this until 6am and mistake your cat for your coffer..
You toss the charcoal cat into the lava. It makes a loud hissing sound and almost immediately disappears.

1.If you are of the opinion that wearing spells is for pansies and therefore don't wear benificial spells.
2.You have more mana then you know what to do with on a hunt and figure forced recasting of protections in the middle of a hunt sounds like a solution.
3.You think spell stripping areas are so fun you wanted to carry your own personal one with you no matter where you go.
4.You're a physical semi or a square that relies on skills for DS rather then spells and are hunting pure based creatures.
5.You are a Zelian.
6.There are no good reasons; you should pay me to take it off your hands.

Re: ShadowDeath & Digging · on 10/18/2008 12:09:40 AM 15333
Its the equivilent in Elanthia to crack cocaine.
You try it once, you think no big deal. Next thing you know its 3am and you have to get up for work at 5am. You haven't showered in 3 days, you smell of stale take-out food and you've got coffee stains (or red bull) all over your clothes. You find that you've drained all your bank accounts and sold everything you own for a fraction of its value. You may have even sold children or spouses, or yourself, or threatened people for money or perhaps (gasp) stolen from friends and family.
But all that disappears when you scrounge up enough money for "just one more shovel" and then suddenly, in that moment before you dig the shovel into the dirt the world is perfect, there's endless hope - this time, everything will be wonderful. You will experience perfect bliss and know all, everyone around you is a loser who doesn't understand like you do. Your shovel will then break and you'll be left with cold dirt in your hands and nothing else.
You will repeat the process.

IIRC you buy a lump of ore for 10k. You put in a smelter of some sort. your slab comes out a few moments later. You sweat while it happens - hoping for glovern. You get iron instead. You throw the iron in the barrel. Then drop another 10k for another lump of ore. You repeat this process until you are out of silver or the gate ends. You spend the next 51 weeks hating Varluv.
