Pour, Pout, Out
Sometimes it's the little things that give us the biggest problems. Below is the log of a very young and distressed Danay trying to use a white flask for the first time. To set the scene, I had accidently killed my friend Azthra in dirges. (Don't ask, that's another story.) Needless to say, both Danay and I were distraught. I make a lot of typos anyway, but when trying for speed or when upset, it gets worse. Add in the fact that because I know the spell Preservation, I had never needed to use a white flask until this point...you get the following comedy of errors.

>You say, "he is LKed"

> Azthra seems slightly different.

>prep 305
You concentrate on the Preservation spell...
[Spell preparation time: 10 seconds]

> Lloki says, "i am but L2, only lasts 1 minute..."

> You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "Uh oh"

> A sorrowful tune is carried on the breeze. The wailing grows louder, reaching an excruciating pitch as a death dirge arrives!

> Torvick just went up a squishy path, dragging Azthra's body with him.

>cast az
That spell isn't ready to be cast yet!

> Your spell is ready.

>cast You gesture. Nothing happens.
You have overextended yourself!
You're in heavy shock!
(Forcing stance down to guarded)
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

OOPS!

>go path [Graveyard]
Your feet sing deeply into the muddy way. Struggling to go in the direction you choose rather than yield to the tug of the mire, you look to the side of the road towards the source of the damp chill. The foul bog that lies there holds a strange and potentially fatal attraction. You also see a squishy path. Also here: the body of Azthra who is lying down, Torvick
Obvious paths: east, west.

>get flas
You need a free hand to pick that up.

You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "Go east"

> Torvick grabs Azthra's body and drags it east with him.

>pour az
I could not find what you were referring to.

>e [Graveyard]
The land rises slightly to the west, in the direction of some odd stone ruins. The air here is noticeably clammy and causes beads of humidity to mix with the perspiration of dread already present on your skin. The hollow calls of tree frogs and the humming of countless tiny gnats grate on your nerves. The wild noises and dank breeze seem to originate from the bog to the west. Also here: the body of Azthra who is lying down, Torvick
Obvious paths: south, west, northeast.

>pout az
You pout.

That helped!

> Torvick grabs Azthra's body and drags it northeast with him.

>ne
[Graveyard]
The land is level here, away from the main graveyard. A few slab-like stone monoliths lie fallen in a rough semicircle on the grass, part of a ruined funerary gate honoring some past hero. Had they remained standing, they would form a perfect frame through which could be seen a large dirt mound to the east. Southwest is a dark lowland dotted by broken tombstones. You also see a hobgoblin. Also here: the body of Azthra who is lying down, Torvick
Obvious paths: northeast, southeast, southwest.

> Torvick grabs Azthra's body and drags it northeast with him.

>pour az

>ne
[Graveyard]
The western end of the mound is wider than the eastern terminus, forming a broad earth wall. In contrast to the steep side of the mound, the land to the west slants gently downhill in a gradual drop in the elevation from this level plateau. Also here: the body of Azthra who is lying down, Torvick
Obvious paths: south, northeast, southwest.

>You exclaim, "stop!"

>pour az
Maybe when he's liquified a bit more?

Uhhhhh.......

You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "Sorry"

> Torvick says, "WEhat/"

> You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "Sw"

> You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "I'm guiding him Dan"

>You say, "how do i pour the flask"

> You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "::sigh::"

You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra ask, "Pour flask Az?"

>pour flas az
I could not find what you were referring to.

>pour fask in azthr
I could not find what you were referring to.

Fask, flask....what's the diff?

> Torvick grabs Azthra's body and drags it southwest with him.

I finally got it right! Too bad I didn't actually have a flask in my hand....

You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "I need LK or I'm gonna decay"

>You flail your arms about.

>glance
You glance down to see a white ora blade in your right hand and a silvery mithril shield in your left hand.

DUH!

>You put a white ora blade inside your leather sheath.

>You sling a silvery mithril shield over your shoulder.

Let's not discuss the fact that I just put away all my gear while still in monster territory.

>gte flak
I don't understand what you typed.

>You remove a white flask from inside your heavy backpack.

Yay! Okay, no sweat. Now I can do it.

>out fla in azthr
You can't go there.

>pout flas azthr
I could not find what you were referring to.

At least I didn't pout again.

>pour flas azthr
I could not find what you were referring to.

>glance
You glance down to see a white flask in your right hand and nothing in your left hand.

You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "Oh cripes..."

>give trov
What is it you're trying to give?

> Lloki says, "hmm, i can try to drag to crypt"

> Lloki says, "if ye wish"

> Torvick says, "So can I"

You hear the ghostly voice of Azthra say, "I don't want to decay"

>give llok

>giove flask llok

> Lloki removes a white flask from inside his black linen cape.

> Lloki forces Azthra's mouth open, and pours in a small amount from his white flask. A luminescent web briefly forms around Azthra, then fades into the body.

He made that look so easy.

> Torvick nods.

>You say, "whew"
