Part of being a novice Gemstone player is doing, saying and believing really dumb things. Or in this case, just plain missing the obvious.

The first log snip that shows the conversation is me trying to explain that something strange had been happening to my spells.

You say, "something strange happened"

You say, "i had just cast my spell, and then it wore off a few seconds later"

You ask, "anyone know why my spell would wear off right away like that?"

You say, "it was 103"

You say, "there is something odd about the protection spells"

Rauny nods.

You say, "it happened before to me"

Rauny says, "I know."

You say, "they wear off before they should when something gets me sometimes"

You say, "as soon as I was webbed they both wore off, but I had just cast one of them"

Here's the two instances I was talking about when my spells "wore off before they should have". You just might be able to notice a pattern, and thus the obvious (but not to me at the time) explanation.....

 

Dallavise gestures at you.
CS: +78 - TD: +47 + CvA: +17 + d100: +77 - -5 == +130
Warding failed!
A painful blow.
... 70 points of damage!
Blow to abdomen breaks you almost in two!
The powerful look leaves you.
The dim aura fades from around you.

 

A cave worm tries to bite you!
AS: +78 vs DS: +22 with AvD: +32 + d100 roll: +98 = +186
... and hits for 52 points of damage!
You hear several snaps as your neck is broken in several places.
The dim aura fades from around you.
The powerful look leaves you.

 

After the spells drop in these logs, there's a message saying something to the effect, "It seems you have died my friend". Oh....maybe that had something to do with it!
